013_mid214_midIndonesia's 21 year old racing queen, Alexandra Asmasoebrata has been announced as the latest addition to the BHPetrol.Iru1 squad for the final round of the Rotax Max Asian Series at Speedway Plus, USJ ELITE, Malaysia. She joins other young stars of the team including 14 year old Ron Tan (Senior), 15 year old Aldi Rizky (Senior) of Indonesia and Daim Hishammudin (Micromax)of Singapore.

Alexandra Asmasoebrata is a famous karting queen in her homeland Indonesia, notching up a number of national kart championships and recently competed in the 2008 World Rotax Finals in Italy, after her win in the Indonesian Series. She is currently second in this year's Asian Max Series, six points away from Finnish driver Mikko Nassi of KRS Motorsports. Her team-mate in BHPetrol.Iru1, Aldi Rizky is just a point away behind.

Alexandra also has experience in single-seaters having competed in Formula Campus China and Formula Renault 2.0 Asia for several years with numerous top ten finishes. She received a lot of support from her country for being the only female flying the flag for Indonesia at this professional level of motorsport. With the results she has achieved, she becomes an icon for the young Indonesian girls in sports.

This will be Alexandra's first ever race with an international karting team, having driven for top national karting teams in Indonesia previously. However she has full of praise for the equipments available in the team especially the CRG kart.

Alexandra's relationship with Team Principal, Nik Iruwan dated back to 2003, when Nik was racing in the Seniors while Alexandra was in the Juniors at the Sentul Go-Kart Circuit, Indonesia; during the Asian Karting Open Championship 2003.

409_midAlexandra commented: "I am happy to finally win a place in a prestigious team like BHPetrol.Iru1 Racing Team. The team is arguably one of the best in the region. I know Nik Iruwan  from his karting days back in 2002, and it's great to finally work with him for the first time. I'm sure Nik's team will give the best and hopefully I am able to repay back the trust the team put in me. My personal target is to finish in the top six and hopefully maintain my second position in the championship.

Team Principal, Nik Iruwan commented: "It's been an amazing year for BHPetrol.Iru1 Racing Team in 2009. We have had the opportunity to work with many top drivers including Zahir Ali (A1 Team Indonesia), Fahmi Ilyas  (Formula BMW PAcific), and now Alexandra. This will only be beneficial for the team not just on giving us more technical feedback but also increasing the profile of the team. We want to get the best out of her this weekend".

"I know Alexandra since I was still actively driving in karts. Her previous results have showed that motorsports are just not for men. Hopefully her appearance in Malaysia will attract more women to get into motorsport in general.

Alexandra Asmasoebrata is sponsored by Indonesian Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Bank DKI (Indonesia) and SBY.

BHPetrol.Iru1 Racing Team's sister-team Pacific.Iru1 Racing Team won the last Asian Max Series race at Pekan, after driver Syafiq Ali took an advantage from BHPetrol.Iru1 driver Fahmi Ilyas's mistake on the final lap, giving the CRG karts its first win of the year in the top level Senior Class.
